Study Abroad

Study Abroad Program

The Study Abroad program is designed to give missions students hands-on training in an actual missional context.

Those participating in the study abroad program spend up to a year overseas under the supervision of an experienced missionary.

The added bonus is that you can earn college credit while you are doing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why study abroad?

By studying abroad, you will gain valuable experience in ministry, accelerate your language learning, make valuable connections with missionaries, and develop many new friendships.  Plus, you will make a difference for the kingdom of God!

Where can I go?

In partnership with Hope International Missions and Evangelistic Faith Missions, bte365官网地址’s study abroad program gives students many options for ministry around the world.  Although placement depends on many factors, current locations include but are not limited to Taiwan, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Dominican Republic, and Bolivia.

With whom will I serve?

You’ll minister alongside local leaders and missionaries, serving under their guidance.  Before going and after returning, you’ll be mentored by college and missions personnel, too!

Where will I live?

Depending on your placement, you may live with a missionary family, a native family, or in private, secure housing nearby.

What will I study while abroad?

While serving abroad, you’ll continue working toward your degree on campus, taking courses in applied missiology and language learning, plus other courses required by your degree.  Though language studies will happen on location, your other studies will continue online.

How long can I study abroad?

You can study abroad for anywhere from twelve weeks to an entire year.

How much does it cost?

It depends.  Although you’ll be responsible for airfare, lodging, board, transportation, and insurance expenses, these costs may be offset by reduced tuition, financial aid, and fundraising.

Do I need to be a missions major to participate?

Although the program is designed for missions majors, others who intend to enter cross-cultural ministry may be eligible. For example, if you are studying to be a teacher or pastor but want to become involved in missions, you may be a perfect fit. If you’re interested, ask!
